I recently had to refresh my computer which meant I no longer had iTunes on my computer. I re-downloaded iTunes onto my computer but then I soon realized that I no longer had the music, I purchased from iTunes, in my Library. Instead of reading the directions on how to get my music back into my library, I just connected my iPod to my computer and sync’ d the iPod and computer, figuring this would put all my music back into the Library.
I’ve recently got a virus on my computer. The only way to fix it is to put in the recovery disc and wipe everything on it. But all my purchased iTunes songs are on there, If I put the recovery disc in my computer, will I be able to acess my iTunes account and get all my purchased songs back? Or will I have to just wipe them and waste all the money I’ve spent? Please help.
Are all your purchased music on your iPod? If so you can copy files from iPod back onto your PC then import files into iTunes again.
Not so!! When I sync’ d the iPod with the computer, everything on my iPod was deleted. So now I’ve lost everything. Below are the steps I should have followed in the first place and I will also tell you how I got my music back without having to re-purchase them. Recover Music in Your iTunes Library is easy.
1 After refreshing your computer from a crash, you’ll need to re-download iTunes. You can download iTunes from iTunes.com.
2 After following the steps to download and install iTunes, open iTunes and connect your iPod. This is VERY important….DO NOT sync your iPod. Doing so will delete all media from your iPod.
3 Instead of sync’ing, go to the toolbar at the top and select “File”. From there, you’ll need to select “Transfer Purchases from iPod.” Music you purchased from iTunes will now be transferred to your “Purchased” folder under “Store.”
I recently had my OS drive fail, so I had to reinstall windows, and lost most of my programs. I really don’t want to have to rerate all my iTunes music, and really wanted to keep the playcount going, so Im hoping to not have to rebuild. I still have my ipod, is there anyway to restore iTunes via my iPod.
Funny that, someone else just asked a similar question, and there is an answer. If you go to http://www.download.com/ipod-getter/ there is a free programme which copies everything from your I-Pod back to the hard drive. Hope this helps. iPod Getter is a simple Windows application to extract tracks from iPod music players back to host computer.
