Ustream is a free live streaming video site that permits anyone with an account to broadcast over the web. The site allows users to interact with viewers through a chat window and social media channels like Facebook and Twitter. Both the video feed and chat window can be embedded into a website. It requires some HTML knowledge, but it is a convenient way to share your feed without requiring viewers to access Ustream directly.
Ustream powers live interactive video that enables anyone to watch and interact with a global audience of unlimited size. Open Ustream Producer and log in to your account.
Click “Broadcast Settings” near the bottom of the screen to change the broadcast settings as needed. If the Bandwidth meter near the upper left corner of the screen doesn¡¯t show four bars, select a lower quality broadcast setting in this area.
Select your channel name on the Broadcast to Channel drop-down menu near the bottom left corner of the screen.
Click and drag a video file from your desktop to the Producer screen. Release your mouse button to drop the file as a thumbnail below the broadcast viewing area. Repeat as desired with other files.
Locate the “Start Recording” button near the bottom right corner of the screen. Locate “Record To:” under the button and then click the box to the left of “Ustream” if unchecked.
Click a video file thumbnail and then click “Start Broadcasting” to play the file live on your channel. Click “Start Recording” at any time to record all or part of the video for future viewing on Ustream. Click “Stop Recording” when you¡¯ve recorded the amount of video you want.
Click “Save” or the “Recording” tab if applicable and then enter a title and description for the broadcast when prompted. In addition, enter tags to help Ustream users find your videos during searches.
Click “Save” to archive the recorded video on Ustream.
